Nail Fungus – Quick Remedies, Treatment

What is nail Fungus?

Nail Fungus is an infection which affects the nails in the hands and toes. You can know that you are suffering from this infection by a unique symptom of abnormal colour. Your nail may change from the normal colour to yellow or black. This infection will be started from the tip of the nail of the fingers or toes. When this fungal infection increases, you may get a severe pain and discolouration.

The main cause of these kind of fungal infections is nail disorders. The prominent reasons for nail fungus are sweaty shoes and shower floors. When the nail feels wet always, the infections starts automatically. The main reason for the wetness is sweating. This kind of fungal infection will affect the first layer of the skin around your nail.

Is it easy to treat?

It is not  easy to treat these kinds of fungus at once. There are numerous anti-fungal nail creams and ointments which can prevent or reduce the infection to a minimum extent. There are possibilities for anti-fungal medications. You can trust them always. If the infections are severe, better go for non-surgical treatments.


Oral medications

Oral medications is one of the treatment for this nail fungus. These medications can be used for growing nails without fungal infections. You will be instructed to follow this treatment from 6 to 12 weeks. Some of the examples of this kind of treatments are:

  1. Sporanox
  2. Diflucan
  3. Lamisil etc.

Topical Medications

This is the another type of nail fungus medication. You will be asked to take these type of medications to cure from nail fungus. This is just an alternative to the previously explained medication type. You could not expect that it will offer better remedy.

Anti-fungal Lacquer

If your nail infection is at the preliminary stage, your doctor may advise you to use these kind of anti-fungal lacquer. This treatment will be given when you have very mild infections in your nails. You may be prescribed to use an anti-fungal nail polish.  Ciclopirox is an example of approved  anti-fungal lacquer.

Prevention is better than cure!

            You can follow these tips to prevent these fungal infections.

  • Don’t allow your nails to grow and always keep them short.
  • It is not advisable to wear tight socks.
  • Always use anti-fungal powder or spray.
  • Use rubber gloves to avoid over exposer to water.
  • It is harm to remove the skin near by the nails.
  • Go only for hygienic saloons for pedicure and manicure.
  • Never use unbranded nail polishes.
